Reasons for Sealing Failure Of Submersible Pumps

Submersible pump refers to a pump that transports liquid through the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the impeller. After mechanical sealing, it usually fails, which will lead to normal use next time.

The stainless steel pump manufacturer will introduce the following reasons for the failure to you:

1. The medium must not be mixed with granular impurities. When the device is running, the medium is in high-speed motion and scratches the end face.

2. The medium can condense and block the spring, causing damage to the seal.

3. The gland deforms under stress, resulting in uneven preload and damage to the sealing element.

4. Due to evacuation and cavitation, the pressure in the pump increases sharply, resulting in damage to the seals.

5. The actual output of a submersible pump is very small, which can cause a large amount of medium to circulate in the pump and accumulate heat, which can lead to medium evaporation and seal failure.

6. Choosing the wrong sealing ring material, such as hard alloy, engineering ceramic graphite, etc., can sometimes cause radial cracks on the end face, leading to rapid wear of the parts.

7. If the dynamic ring seal is too tight, it will damage the spring due to excessive fatigue, accelerate the wear between the sealing ring and the shaft sleeve, and lead to seal failure.

8. It has not been in use for a long time, and the impeller did not rotate manually during restart, which may damage the seal due to adhesion.

9. The flatness of the end face does not meet the standard or the surface is scratched.

10. High temperature can cause aging, cracking, and deformation of the sealing element, resulting in insufficient closing force and leakage of the sealing end face, leading to a decrease in sealing performance.

11. During installation or maintenance, the installation and tightening screws are skewed, resulting in seal failure.

12. Idling or detachment of the sealing water pipe, causing the sealing surface to be in a dry grinding state and damaging the seal.

13. The sealing element has been washed away by corrosive media for a long time, resulting in damage to the sealing element.

14. The end face of the sealing element deforms due to overheating, forming many dents, leading to severe wear and surface damage, and causing the sealing element to fail.

15. Due to the poor coaxiality of the transmission components, the end face may be rubbed during operation due to shaking, resulting in end face vaporization, overheating, and wear.

16. The spring is too tight, causing rapid wear and failure of the sealing end face, and increasing power consumption.

The failure of the submersible pump after sealing is a very troublesome problem, and one of the above reasons must be a phenomenon that you have encountered. If this situation occurs during use, it is necessary to find a solution in a timely manner to avoid increasing trouble.
